How to use Thinkspaces

A collaborative infinite canvas for visual thinking. Here’s a quick tour of every feature — each clip loops automatically, so just watch and follow along.

Tip: click any clip to enlarge it.

Getting around

Pan & zoom the canvas

Your space is an infinite canvas — move through it freely without losing the bigger picture.

  1. Scroll up or down to zoom in and out around your cursor.
  2. Hold Space and drag to pan across the canvas.
  3. Press F at any time to fit everything back into view.

Adding content

Jot a note

Notes are rich-text cards for capturing ideas in their own words.

  1. Drag the note tool from the left toolbar onto the canvas.
  2. Double-click the note to start editing.
  3. Type your idea — change font, size, colour and emphasis from the text toolbar.

Add a label

Lightweight text for headings, captions and annotations — no card around it.

  1. Drag the “Aa” text tool out onto the canvas.
  2. Double-click the label and type.
  3. Click away to place it.

Drop a shape

Rectangles, mind-map nodes, flowchart blocks, callouts and arrows — each can hold text.

  1. Drag the shape tool out, or click it to open the picker.
  2. Type directly into the shape to label it.
  3. Restyle fill, border, font and size from the shape toolbar.

Track tasks

Checklist cards that show your progress at a glance.

  1. Drag the to-do tool onto the canvas.
  2. Add rows with “Add item”, and tick them off as you go.
  3. The header keeps a running count of what’s done.

Add, crop & rotate images

Drop in pictures, screenshots and diagrams — pick several at once, then crop and rotate them in place.

  1. Drag the image tool onto the canvas and pick one or more files — they upload and appear in place.
  2. Double-click an image to crop it, then drag a corner handle to reframe.
  3. Select an image and drag the rotate handle above its top-right corner to angle it.

Group with a pinboard

Frame related items into a titled section to keep the canvas organised.

  1. Drag a pinboard out onto the canvas.
  2. Give it a title and drop items inside.
  3. Export a section on its own, or as one page of a multi-page PDF.

Organising & connecting

Move & resize

Arrange items by proximity, grouping and sequence — not folders.

  1. Drag any item to reposition it.
  2. Select an item to reveal its handles.
  3. Drag a corner handle to resize.

Connect ideas

Draw connectors between items to show how thoughts relate.

  1. Select an item to reveal its launch handles.
  2. Drag from a handle to another item to link them.
  3. Connectors can be bezier, straight or elbow, with optional arrow markers.

Sketch freely

Annotate and draw directly on the canvas in draw mode.

  1. Press the pencil tool (or D) to enter draw mode.
  2. Use the brush, lasso-fill and eraser from the floating toolbar.
  3. Sample colours from the canvas with the eyedropper.

Going further

Pick & style a shape

Shapes are fully styleable — pick from the shape menu, then change text, font and colour.

  1. Click the shape tool to open the picker and choose a rounded square.
  2. Double-click to add a label, then change its font and fill colour.
  3. Drag a noodle out from the shape to connect it to anything.

Connect a to-do to a note

Connections work between any items — and you can recolour each one.

  1. Select the to-do and drag a connector from a row to the note.
  2. Click the connector to select it.
  3. Open the line-colour picker and choose a new colour.

Action items

Flag & track action items

Tag anything on the canvas as an action, give it a deadline, and let the Action Hub gather every task into one prioritised list.

  1. Drag the Action tag next to the work it belongs to — its capture radius picks up nearby items.
  2. Label it, set a deadline, and choose an urgency colour from the tag toolbar.
  3. Open the Action Hub to see every tag in one list, and switch how urgency colour is decided — manual, list order, time left, or a blend.
